Christmas Earrings

"Emerald is one of the most valuable gemstones."
Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Grass green is the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect and well being. Green is the color of balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. Green is a safe color, if you don't know what color to use anywhere use green.

Green is the perfect color for Christmas, you can wear it anywhere and with anything.
These amazing genuine emeralds measure 25mm and are made with genuine copper euro ear wires and genuine copper wire. I love wearing genuine and natural gemstones. It's the perfect choice for me especially during the Holidays. It keeps me connected to the earth, and I feel like I'm being "green". If your interested in purchasing these earrings check them out at SavvyandSky.com. They have genuine and natural gemstones of all shapes and sizes. Love that site!

My next project!

So I am going to work on this project when I get a breather from my jewelry. I am creating fantastic jewels for my annual holiday sale, never too early to start creating for the christmas season. I have this on the back of my mind and a few other projects that I would like to do in the near future,  I am always inspired by something I see and this is a pillow I have seen recently at a little boutique in Grand Rapids. The pillow was about 12" x 12" and had this fun lace flower on the front of it and cotton fabric on the back. It looks fairly simple with the lace applied in a circular fashion and stitched in place. I bet the lace was dyed in RIT, which is really simple to do. Try it I bet you can do it! I will post a picture when I am done with mine.

Mixed Media Angel Painting

Just looking back at some old photos and I came across this painting. I painted it for an artist event at UICA in Grand Rapids, MI. I am not sure who ended up with this piece, but I really enjoyed painting it. It conveys a very bitter sweet feeling or perhaps a sense of worry. I am not really sure what I was feeling at the time other than I knew the eyes were rather sad, so naturally the tears came. They are large arn't they? This piece was approx. 12 x 12" mixed media on a wood panel. I hope this painting has a good home, I just love it! Go to TinaRothwell.com if you would love to see the new work.

Kodak Moment

So I always have my camera ready just in case I have that Kodak moment. Here you see my grandson
touching a sculpture I got for my birthday. My daughter put him on my end table and held him while I pointed and shot the camera. You have to work fast when taking pictures of babies. It's crazy, but they move so quickly.

Here is a close up of the sculpture. It's quite rustic and simple, but fun and colorful. It brings some whimsy in my sunroom, so I removed the real plants and put in my tree sculpture. I don't have to water my tree! Yipeeeeee

In the field

I love this painting! It was painted on four different wood panels that were 6 x 6" each, and then mounted on a wood backing that I painted black so that the painting could really pop. This is oil paint. If you know me that is pretty much my medium of choice. I do on many occasions create mixed media pieces as well. This particular piece is SOLD but if you want to custom order one, I can paint one up very similar to this, in a matter of days.

How would you like something like this?

Or one using these colors. I can see this in a cozy, comfy cottage. How about in a contemporary home? Ok that's it, this one is my next painting! You can always go to TinaRothwell.com for more paintings.
